INDEPENDENCE DAY SPEECH (LONG)
We are celebrating the cessation of the 75th Independence Day of India. This is
the day, when the sacrifices made by our patriots were acknowledged, when the
slavery of more than 100
years was ended and the day when we became “The Republic of India”.
This day impels us to remember the time, when many mothers sacrificed their son, when the country had blood marks engraved on its battlegrounds, daughters lost their father, and wives were ruthlessly widowed. We were forced to become slaves of the British.
Displeasure was intensifying with time and with the revolt of
1857, we started
crossing swords with Britishers, few remarkable endeavours were Indigo
Movement, Salt Satyagraha, Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience
Movement, and lastly Quit India Movement which helped us to get upto this point
where we have the three pillars of french revolution i.e. Liberty, Equality and
fraternity. In addition to this we also got our fundamental rights and duties,
for which America was precarious for 150 years.
All these crusade for sovereignty, represent just the upper
crust of our endeavour. The contributions of freedom fighters are impeccable
and immeasurable, few renowned names are Chandra Shekhar Azad, Mangal Pandey,
Saradar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi and
many more.
Now, India is known as a melting pot of cultures and traditions. We are the highest growing economy, the biggest successful democracy and the epicentre of world affairs in this day and age.
I would like to conclude by quoting :
